Talia’s Treats: Ginger Pear Cake w/ Sticky Toffee Glaze

My sis Talia has done it again with another delicious recipe that’s again so perfect for this yucky weather. I can just imagine curling up by the fire or heater and devouring this cake whilst watching the artistic gymnastics, and whatever takes your fancy from the Olympics.

  • 1/2 cup golden syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar

the very mini bits & pieces

I understand how annoying it can be to hear someone go on about exercise, talking about it like they invented it. I know, and I’m sorry but it’s kind of taken over my life. All those days marked on the calendar with X, R + W are all the days I’ve exercised this month. The problem is, it’s kind of all I have to show for myself because I haven’t quite figured out how to not be so damn tired all the time so that I can do other stuff. Hence, the mini-bits & pieces. Clearly, I’m a bit of a struggle. As a result of this, I’ve also unintentionally done Dry July.

A Raven’s Tale – NOM*D SS 12/13

Bilateral Dress : Pathfinder Dress, Doublet Split.

The draping, the layering, the dresses with peek-a-boo detailing around the midriff, the pops of rust, collars, hoodies and vintage scarf influenced prints – there’s a lot to love about NOM*D’s SS 12/13 collection.

A Raven’s Tale is inspired by the iconic ebony bird gradually morphing to an all‐seeing bird’s eye view and will be in stores during August. Here are a few of my favourite looks.

Bilateral Dress : Lateral Tunic, Compass Skirt

Help send kids in Fukushima to camp (& to have some fun again!)

 TA Project Japan:

Did you know that children in Kori-machi Fukushima are only allowed to play outside for one hour because of the risk of radiation?

The lives of the people in Fukushima have been turned upside down following the Nuclear Plant Melt Down, children lost their homes, family and friends and on top of that have to stress about radiation levels in the food they eat, the water they drink and the environment they play in.

I match my socks with my umbrella, cos that’s my ninja way

(All images: my long-suffering in-house photog, D.Dallas)

Actually remembered to take my umbrella with me and busted it out for the first time this winter as I crossed the street in Ponsonby. I felt pretty cool. I was going to a casting and I knew I’d have to try on a couple of outfits, so I didn’t wanna put too many layers on. I ended up with an LBD, my Liam Navy coat, and colourful Gorman socks with these Kathryn Wilson heels I got a couple years ago. As a happy coincidence, the colours of my socks matched my umbrella – also Gorman.

So, yeah. I’ve become one of those people who wears arm-bands to put their iPhones in when they exercise. In other words, I’m taking this shit serious man. And yes, this is what I wear to go running/to the gym in sometimes. If you can call what I do running, which right now, you really can’t. I’m into week two of the 12 week challenge I told you about here and it’s been pretty much consuming most of my spare time one way or another. I’ve gotten up at 5 am to go for my gumby-run. I’ve gone to the gym straight after to do squats and push-ups and weights, and I’ve spent the rest of my time hobbling around, in desperate need of one of those hand rails like you find in the disabled toilets to help me sit down and get up. Even lifting the phone to my face was almost asking too much of my arms.
